Brief statement regarding role in residency training program

Serves as an attending anesthesiologist and critical care specialist supervising and teaching residents the principles and safe practices of anesthesia and critical care medicine.  Director of one-month resident rotation at OSU East Hospital with emphasis on regional anesthesia techniques.  Chief of Anesthesiology and Medical Director of OSU-East, one of the 4 hospitals in the medical center that has the majority of the elective orthopedic cases (60-80% of OSU-East volume) and a significant number of other types of surgical cases which lend themselves to teach regional anesthesia techniques. Residents spend a month at this location and the emphasis is on regional anesthesia and applied anatomy. One of two attendings teaching regional techniques he currently serves as one of the physicians on the Surgical Intensive Care Service on a monthly basis and lectures on the topics of hemodynamic monitoring, ventilatory support,  acute respiratory distress syndrome and other topics for CA I, CA II and CA III residents.
