In-Training Exam Performance |
Consistently scoring in the 90th percentile on the annual ABA In-Training exam is no accident! We work hard to prepare our residents with the knowledge base, clinical experience and scientific thinking necessary to be successful in passing board exams. The ABA in-training exam is given yearly in July here on campus. Throughout the entire training process the department strives to provide optimal teaching through multiple modalities. Weekly didactic sessions geared toward each individual year of training, weekly morning reports and Grand Rounds sessions/Morbidity and Mortality conferences are only a sample of the teaching structure. In addition, the department offers special weekly sub-specialty sessions in OB-, Neuro-, and Cardiac Anesthesia. Departmental Journal Clubs are organized 4-5 times per year and are hosted at the homes of our faculty. Intra-operative teaching is on-going on a daily basis with attending physicians at a one-to-one or one-to-two ratio. An annual Airway Workshop is conducted to allow hands-on learning. In addition, Mock Oral Exams are staged two times a year to allow residents to become familiar with the format and sample of content used for Oral Boards.
