The 172-bed hospital (268,000 square feet) has 13 floors and contains a 24-bed bone marrow transplantation unit, 40 outpatient examination/consultation rooms, 26 basic research laboratories and support facilities with more than 200 researchers working in well over 200 clinical trials in cancer prevention and treatment, six specialized surgical suites, a Perianesthesia Unit for pre- and post-operative care of inpatients and outpatients, a clinical laboratory, 21 private chemotherapy suites, an average of nearly 6,000 inpatient admissions each year, and a pharmacy dedicated to chemotherapy. Its outpatient facilities support approximately 130,000 visits annually. In addition, The James maintains a 12-bed oncology unit at The Community Hospital in Springfield and offers quality cancer care at University Hospital East, an OSU facility serving the east side of Columbus. It also provides comprehensive outpatient breast health services at JamesCare in Dublin.
