"Established March 6, 1992, by family and friends in memory of Drs. Dominic A. and Lisa Anne Gunyula Mandalfino.  Income supports resident research and projects in the Department of Anesthesiology."

In early 1992 Dr. Dominic Mandalfino was a Chief Resident in the Department of Anesthesiology and was looking forward to finishing his training in June.  He had recently married  Lisa Anne Gunyula, also a OSU resident.  Dominic and Lisa were planning their careers and the beginning of their lives together.  While on vacation in California, their plans were abruptly ended, along with their lives.  Sitting in an airplane on the tarmack, their plane was hit by another plane on the ground and both lost their lives, along with others.

The easy-going, compassionate and fun-loving nature of this young couple endeared them to many who knew them.  Family and friends, devastated by the loss banded together and established the Dominic and Lisa Mandalfino Memorial Fund in Anesthesiology.  The memories of Dominic and Lisa carry-on and their fund moves forward endeavors that will impact the future of anesthesiology for many years to come.
