A Note From the Chief Residents

Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State UniversityThank you for your interest in the Department of Anesthesiology at Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University. We are very proud of our training program for several reasons. First and foremost, our program provides every resident with the depth of training needed to provide excellent patient care under any clinical circumstance. This is, in part, due to the wide range of experience we obtain in all anesthetic subspecialties. As a large tertiary care center, our residents enjoy exposure to a phenomenal variety of surgical cases. From cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, pediatric, obstetric, and regional anesthesia to pain management and critical care, those who train at OSU will find themselves with the tools necessary to excel in the most complex of cases.

Beyond the operating room, our program has recently revamped the didactic schedule, providing us with protected education time outside of clinical duty. Our program director, Demicha Rankin, MD, is a strong resident advocate, and has helped make strides in our department by maintaining an emphasis on education. Our Vice Chair of Education and former program director, Kenneth R. Moran, MD, is very involved in multiple aspects of the residency program and has demonstrated great dedication to the residents. The department chairman, Ronald L. Harter, MD, was formerly the residency program director himself. With the leader of our department having his roots in the residency program, we are confident that the administration will always have our best interests in mind.

Downtown ColumbusWhile it would be impossible to summarize the city of Columbus in a few sentences, suffice it to say we all are able to enjoy a great quality of life outside of the hospital. Whether your interest is raising a family or living the single life, Columbus offers a wide variety in terms of housing, socializing and culture.

Again, thank you for your interest in our program. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Go Bucks!
