History of Mandalfino Memorial Fund

In early 1991, Dr. Dominic Mandalfino was a chief resident in the Department of Anesthesiology and was looking forward to finishing his training in June. He had recently married Dr. Lisa Anne Gunyula, also an OSU resident. Dominic and Lisa were planning their careers and the beginning of their lives together. While on vacation in California, their plans abruptly ended. Sitting on the tarmack, their airplane was hit by another plane on the ground. Both lost their lives.

The easy-going, compassionate and fun-loving nature of this young couple endeared them to many who knew them. Family and friends, devastated by the loss, banded together and established the Dominic and Lisa Mandalfino Memorial Fund in Anesthesiology. The memories of Dominic and Lisa carry on and their fund moves forward endeavors that will impact the future of anesthesiology for many years to come.
