Weekly Newsletter 10/02/2017

Department of Anesthesiology
Week of October 2nd, 2017

The Department of Anesthesiology’s weekly e-newsletter will be distributed on Friday of each week promoting department activities for the upcoming week. To submit a news item, please contact Jill Dellibovi at Jill.Dellibovi@osumc.edu by Thursday at 12:00 pm.

ACLS Training
ACLS training classes will no longer be offered through the department.
There are two options to receive ACLS training: sign up for a class for no cost or do the online AHA class for the $135 fee and they can submit to be reimbursed from their CME funds as part of that they will then have 60 days to go over to the ED&R office to do their skills demonstration – before their renewal deadline.

The best way to reach Saman Shirvani is by email since they’re always doing the skills lab and not at their desk. Their email is: Saman.Shirvani@osumc.edu
October ACLS expirations are:  Heather Eck, MD,  Ritu Kapoor, MD, Blair Herndon, MD, CRNAs/AAs Allison Cardy, Christina Dalzell, Jim Dando, Patty Fout, Justin Grime, Kami Nemcik, and Rhonda Paletta
November ACLS expirations are: Goran Ristev, MD, Umo Sasso, MD, Thomas Smith, MD, CRNAs/AAs Bruce Alden and Marissa Page

VITA Training
Vita is replacing Research in View, which is being retired. Faculty and staff will experience a user-friendly interface with university branding, more robust web crawling for better publication searches, and more ways to evaluate the quality of research. Visit vita.osu.edu to explore the new tool.
Faculty-focused trainings on Vita. Staff may attend these, but they will be taught from the faculty-user perspective. Register on BuckeyeLearn

Before attending a session, please review this guide and ensure you have a Vita account. (Accessible with your OSU name.# at vita.osu.edu). If you do not have an account, you can create one and it will upload overnight.

Changes to Parking Garage Entry
The installation of new parking equipment by CampusParc in Gateway Garage will now require customers to scan the QR code located on the back of their 2017-2018 access hashtag (annual permit holders) to gain entry. Customers who have a current (2016-2017) proximity-based garage access keycard will need to keep their keycard for entry into other garages that do not yet have the new equipment.
The new equipment will continue to be installed through the coming months at other parking locations, with Neil Avenue Garage and 11th Avenue Garage transitioning in October 2017, 9th Avenue West Garage and 9th Avenue East Garage in November 2017, and 12th Avenue Garage in December 2017. Customers who have questions regarding the transition or who have not received their 2017-2018 access hangtag or keycard may contact CampusParc Customer Service at osuinfo@campusparc.com.
